After shooting a first-round 69, one stroke off the pace, Preston Summerhays of Scottsdale fired a final-round 7-under-par 65, the low round of the tournament, to win the Thunderbird Invitational by two strokes at 10-under-par 134.

The Phoenix Metro Junior Championship sponsored by Van’s Golf Shops teed off February 8-9 with a field of more than 200 junior golfers – boys and girls – ages 8-18 competing in five age groups in a 36-hole tournament held at Superstition Springs Golf Club and Arizona Golf Resort.

The 2020 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship tees off April 25-29 with six JGAA members entering the field at Quail Creek Country Club in Naples, Florida.

The Warren Schutte Invitational, the first PING Junior Masters Series tournament of the season, teed off January 25-26. Sponsored by Hilger Orthodontics, round one was held at Wigwam Golf Resort (Gold) and the final round at Palm Valley Golf Club.

Javier Delgadillo of El Paso, Texas came out on top in the Boys Championship division with a score of 6-under-par 138 at Raven Golf Club Phoenix, one stroke ahead of Alan Quezada of Phoenix and Cade Anderson of Scottsdale who both finished T2 with identical rounds of 69-70 (5-under-par 139).

The Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA) announced that it will host the ITTY BITTY OPEN on January 11, 2020 at 20 Valley-wide locations open to all youngsters ages 3-5 years old. The FREE event has three clinic times per location starting a 9, 10 and 11 am where juniors and their parents will learn the basics skills of golf taught by qualified PGA and LPGA professionals.
