2026 GRANT APPLICATIONS WILL BE OPEN FROM MARCH 16 – MAY 8, 2026 FOR FALL GOLF SEASON.
Andrew McLaren was a JGAA Alum who passed away in November 2024. The game of golf was Andrew’s greatest passion. It combined many things he loved: being outside, good exercise, sportsmanship, spending quality time with friends, and always improving his game. Andrew had a great reverence for the history and traditions of golf and was a fierce competitor.
His fellow golfers nicknamed Andrew “One Putt” because of his skill and determination. From his participation in the Southwest PGA Junior Prep Tour, JGAA and AJGA, playing on the Arcadia High School and the University of St. Andrews golf teams, being an assistant golf coach for AZ Special Olympics, volunteering with the First Tee to becoming a PGA professional; the golf course was a sanctuary for Andrew.
Andrew was a beloved husband, son, family member, and a great friend to many. The Andrew McLaren “One Putt” Scholarship Fund’s mission is to help Arizona boys participate and grow as individuals on their high school golf teams and … to learn to love and benefit from golf as much as Andrew did in his life.
Grants of $1,000 are made available to high school boys golf teams in Arizona. Grants are approved by the Andrew McLaren “One Putt” Scholarship Fund Committee and awarded based on need, qualifications, a completed application and availability of funds.
The Boys Build-A-Team program, which will be supported by the Andrew McLaren “One Putt” Scholarship Fund, will provide the Association with an opportunity to powerfully and positively impact participation in boys golf as a team sport by in Arizona high schools. By creating the opportunity for boys to learn the game from PGA/LPGA Professionals as well as supporting the work of dedicated coaches financially and emotionally, we will encourage the long-term support from the community, while creating new golfers. A year-round program, the Build-A-Team program will serve schools state-wide each year. Schools are selected through an application process – and must have the support from school administrators. The funds provided to the teams can be used for golf instruction taught by PGA/LPGA Professionals. Funds can also be used for equipment and uniforms.
The 2026 Andrew McLaren Boys Build-A-Team Application will be open from March 16 – May 8, 2026 for the fall golf season. In order to be considered for this grant, fill out the “2026 Team Application” to start the process.
