The 2021 Summer Classic teed off July 14-15 with the Boys and Girls Championship divisions as well as 15-18 Boys and Girls divisions competing at Kierland Golf Club, while the 13-14 divisions were contested at Starfire Golf Club.
After a rain-shortened Barbasol Junior Championship, Preston Summerhays came out on top at 11-under par, six strokes clear of four competitors tied for second place.
After a trio of first round 70s on the North Course at Antelope Hills Golf, three players sat tied for the lead in the Boys Championship division, including eventual winner, Camden Braidech of Scottsdale.
Rylan Johnson of Gilbert shot a first round 9-under-par 63 at Dobson Ranch to set a stiff pace as well as a four-stroke lead in the Boys Championship division.
Gilbert’s Anawin Pikulthong separated himself from the field by an incredible nine-stroke margin after shooting a pair of 5-under-par 66s at Phoenix Country Club to win the Willie Low Invitational, the final PING Junior Masters Series tournament of the season.
Swelling to more than 300 junior golfers age 8-18, the 2021 Thunderbird Junior Classic teed off June 21-22 at Talking Stick, Orange Tree and Biltmore Golf Clubs.
