Scottsdale’s Max Lyons topped the field in the boys’ competition at the Arizona Junior Match Play Championship held at Mirable Golf Club, July 29-30. The top 16 boys in the state were invited to play based on their point totals in the JGAA’s 2021 Boys Championship Division Player of the Year race through the 2020 Phoenix City Junior Championship.

Camden Braidech of Scottsdale earned his first AJGA win of his career at the Colorado Springs Junior by Centura Health, held July 26-29 at The Club at Flying Horse.

The 2021 Junior America’s Cup kicks off July 25-29, with team Arizona set to compete at Powder Horn Golf Club in Sheridan, Wyoming among an elite international field of 18 teams representing Alberta, British Columbia, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Mexico I, Mexico II, Montana, Nevada, Northern California, Oregon, San Diego, Southern California, Sun Country, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Mexico posted its fifth team victory in the past eight years at the 2021 Girls Junior Americas Cup, held July 20-22 at BanBury Golf Course in Eagle, Idaho.

Rajveer Sethi of Chandler shot an opening-round 3-under-par 69 at Aguila Golf Course, which included two birdies and an eagle-2 on the back nine.

The PING Invitational teed off July 19-20 at Grand Canyon University Golf Course. In the first round Wyatt Chapman put up an incredible 8-under-par 63, the lowest score of the tournament by three strokes.

Peoria’s Mattison Frick shot rounds of 70-72-71—213 at Illinois’ Pekin Country Club July 12-15 to win her first AJGA tournament:  D.A. Points Junior Open.

JGAA member Gavin Aurilia won the 2021 IMG Junior World Championship, held July 13-16 at Torrey Pines South Course. Thanks to a 5-under 66 in the third round, Aurilia took the Boys 15-18 division lead into the final round.
