Tony Hendricks of Phoenix and Ashley Menne of Surprise earn first-place honors in the Boy and Girls Championship Divisions at the Thunderbird Junior Classic held June 13-14 on Arizona Biltmore Golf Club’s Adobe course. With the largest field in the JGAA circuit, the tournament hosted 221 boys and girls in five age divisions.
Samuel Salisbury of Green Valley qualified to play in the U.S. Junior Amateur after taking third place in the qualifier held at Tucson Country Club on June 11 with a 3-under-par 68, two strokes behind medalist Kento Yamawaki of Encinitas, California (5-under 66) and one behind second-place finisher Cameron Sisk (67) of El Cajon, California.
Gilbert resident Kohl Kuebler notched his second-consecutive JGAA win in the Boys Championship Division by firing a 5-under-par 205 (67-71-67) at Encanto G.C. at the Antiqua Milt Coggins AZ Junior Stroke Play, a 54-hole event held June 5-7.
