The team from Hawaii pulled away from the pack on Sunday, winning the 47th Eddie Hogan Cup Team Matches at Riverside Golf & Country Club in Portland, Ore. Christian James, representing Nevada, won the individual title.
Representing Arizona, Nic Beno, Jonathan Walters, Aaron Ramos and Gavin Cohen placed 10th in the team competition with a 23-over par performance. Cohen, of Tucson, also earned third place individually with scores of 73-72 – 145 (+1).

Hawaii, tied for third and just one shot back going into the second and final round, shot a tournament-low 214 (-2) on Sunday, finishing at 439 (+7) for the two days. With winds much more tame than Saturday, lower scores were abundant during the second round – six players shot even par or better on Sunday, after there was only one under par round on Saturday.
Justin Williamson (Honolulu, Hawaii) led Hawaii during the Hogan Cup, finishing in a tie for fourth place after scores of 75-71 – 146 (+2). Justin Arcano (Maui, Hawaii) earned a tie for 12th place, finishing with a two-day total of 149 (+5), also firing a 1-under par 71 on Sunday. Kengo Aoshima (Honolulu, Hawaii) finished at 151 (+7), while Zackary Kaneshiro (Aiea, Hawaii) was at 152 (+8) and tied for 22nd.
Team Oregon #1 earned second place, improving by 12 shots and finishing at 442 (+10). Spencer Tibbits (Vancouver, Wash.) shot the low individual score of the Hogan Cup on Sunday, firing a 3-under par 69 and earning second place individually, finishing at 75-69 – 144 (E).
Southern California earned third place (444, +12), and last year’s champion, Northern California, finished in fourth place (446, +14).
Individually, James (Las Vegas, Nevada) was consistent throughout the two days, finishing with scores of 71-72 – 143 (-1). He started with three consecutive birdies to begin his second round, and despite bogies on two of the last three holes, held on for the one shot win over Tibbits. Arizona’s Gavin Cohen (Tucson, Ariz.) earned third place with scores of 73-72 – 145 (+1). Andrew Hess (Idaho Falls, Idaho), Andy Kim (Langley, B.C.) and Williamson tied for fourth at 146 (+2).
