The AIA Division 1 and 2 golf state championships wrapped up this past month at Aguila Golf Course in Laveen. The JGAA showed up and showed out on the Arizona high school stage with four current members victorious in their respective divisions.

Notre Dame Prep senior Landon Ashcraft sets a major school record with his third-straight Division 2 individual state title. The future Texas A&M golfer beat the field by one stroke at 9-under par to seal the deal and help the top-notch program secure its sixth Division 2 boys state team championship. He is the first golfer from a “big school” to win three-consecutive state championships since Hamilton’s CJ Kim achieved the feat in 2008 and 2009, and the first Division 2 athlete to do so since Notre Dame’s Nicholas Losole III in 2007 and 2008.
Alexis Lamadrid of Xavier Prep led the Gators to its 40th and third-straight Division 1 golf title as a team while also successfully defending her top individual honors at Aguila Golf Course. The JGAA standout finished 9-under with rounds of 68-67. Lamadrid outperformed Casteel’s Julia Herzberg, also a current JGAA member, by two strokes in a great individual showdown, as Herzberg carded rounds of 66 and 71. Lamadrid can win three in a row, joining elite company with former Gator star Ashley Menne, who won three in a row from 2016-19 and former Gator legend Heather Farr, who won three from 1979-81.

In the Division 1 boys golf state championship, Hamilton junior Owen Greenough earned individual honors, shooting 68-64 to card a 12-under par total score, edging out other notable JGAA players in Perry’s Ethan Butters and Brophy’s Asher Nelson by three strokes.

As for the Division 2 girls golf state championship, Mica Mountain senior Tyla Greenwood shot 3-under par in round one to kick off the tournament with a bang and set the tone early. Greenwood held the rest of the field at bay with an even-par final round to claim the division 2 girls golf individual state championship.
“Watching our players compete at such a high level and bring home state titles is incredibly rewarding for everyone at the JGAA,” said Executive Director Scott McNevin. “They represented us beautifully and made history. We can’t wait to see them back out at our events in 2026.”
