The path to San Diego is officially set. The JGAA hosted its final qualifying tournament for the elite 2025 Uswing Mojing Junior World Championships, with 21 talented junior golfers earning their spot through standout performances at the Antigua Milt Coggins Junior World Qualifier #2, held June 3–4 across Papago and Encanto Golf Courses.

Set to take place July 7–10, the Junior World Championships bring together the game’s brightest young stars from more than 50 countries. For the newly qualified JGAA athletes, it’s a chance to compete on a global stage — and the road there was nothing short of spectacular.

Papago Golf Course hosted the Boys Championship division, with the first qualifier Dylan Boenning of Phoenix going back-to-back after hot rounds of 68-64, clinching by three strokes. Boenning put together a phenomenal final round of 8-under par to solidify the No. 1 spot, tallying an eagle on the par-5 10th and four straight birdies to post a 30 on the back nine (his lowest nine-hole score ever).

Joining him in San Diego are Owen Greenough of Chandler, who fired a 9-under finish, and Sam Meltzer of Paradise Valley, whose 7-under total was good for the final qualifying spot.

Papago also hosted the Boys 15-18 division, with Karsten McCain of Flagstaff firing off a dominant 5-under par total to breeze through the field by 10 strokes.

The Girls Championship division squared off at Encanto Golf Club, with two qualifiers heading to San Diego. Kaitlyn Helm of Litchfield Park had a masterclass performance at 10-under par for the event to claim the top spot by a resounding nine strokes. Eliza Meltzer of Paradise Valley secured the final qualifying position at 3-over par.

In the Girls 15-18 division, also contested at Encanto, Tori Colbourne of Goodyear held onto her first-round lead to clinch by two strokes at 7-over par.

Encanto 18 hosted the Boys and Girls 13-14 divisions. Taking top spot on the podium at 6-under on the boy’s side gave Cat Dann (68-66) of Mesa a clear path to the championship. Hagen Lancaster of Anthem took second place at 4-under (69-67). Since Catt Dann already qualified, Hagen Lancaster, Troy Stahl of Phoenix and Daniel Jinwoo Cha of Scottsdale each secured the final three qualifier spots. On the girl’s side, Abby Kelly of Mesa took over from the opening tee shot, winning by six strokes at 2-under par. Already qualified, her finish opened the door for Maddison Moltich (Gold Canyon) and Yuer Li (Scottsdale) to join the San Diego-bound roster.

Three players in the Boys 11-12 division moved on. Zhenting Liu of Chandler shot 1-over (61-60) at Encanto’s nine-hole course (played twice) to go victorious by two strokes. Maddux Zlotoff (59-64) of Scottsdale finished solo-second at 3-over par. Benjamin Bracke of Gilbert took the remaining spot at 5-over par.

The Girls 11-12 division, Amelia Khosla of Scottsdale prevails in a playoff against Hadley Kester of Tucson on Encanto 9 for the win at 12-over par. Both players advance to San Diego.

Aaron Zhang of Chandler earns first place honors in the Boys 10 and Under division at 6-over par (65-61). Already qualified, Zhang’s win allowed Parker Tang (Buckeye), Raleigh Butler (Gilbert), Easton Robson (Phoenix), and Davis Jertson (Phoenix) to secure championship invitations.

Finally, in the Girls 10 & Under Division, Aviana Vilar of Peoria captured her second IMG qualifier of the season, winning at 9-over par. Julee Diaz of Phoenix finished solo second and joins her in San Diego.

All eyes on San Diego. The Uswing Mojing Junior World Championship is now fully set with around 40 JGAA golfers heading to the championships to showcase their talent against some of the world’s best.

The 2025 edition of the Uswing Mojing Junior World Championships will kick off from July 8 to July 10. Originating in 1952 with just 50 young players gathering at the then Mission Valley Country Club, the event has evolved significantly. Today, the Uswing Mojing Junior World Golf Championships proudly welcomes 1,200 participants hailing from 56 countries and 42 states. As the largest international tournament globally, it stands out for its rich cultural tapestry.

The mission of the Junior World Golf Championships is to unite young golfers worldwide, offering them a premier golfing experience while fostering cultural cohesion and mutual understanding. Originally conceived by John W. Brown, A.S. “Lou” Smith, and Norrie West in 1968, the San Diego Junior Golf Association took up the mantle to organize the tournament. Their vision was to create a platform where junior golfers from diverse backgrounds could converge, play golf, and broaden their cultural horizons. Hosted not only at the renowned Torrey Pines but also at various other esteemed clubs across the San Diego area, this championship continues to embody the spirit of global camaraderie and sportsmanship.
