Arizona Junior Golfers Compete In 52nd-Annual Junior America’s Cup

The 2024 Junior America’s Cup takes place July 28-August 1 at Solider Hollow Golf Club in Midway, Utah. Among an elite international field of 18 teams representing Alberta, British Columbia, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Mexico I, Mexico II, Montana, Nevada, Northern California, Oregon, San Diego, Southern California, Sun Country, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. In the 54-hole competition, the three lowest (of four) scores determine the team score. All players also will be competing for the Sally Pini Award recognizing the individual medalist.

This year’s Arizona Boys Team will be teeing it up on Solider Hollow’s Gold course and includes team members, Ethan Butters, Brasen Briones, Landon Ashcraft, and Adam Croix.

“We’re very encouraged by the experience of this year’s Arizona team,” said Scott McNevin, Executive Director of the Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA). “All of these Boys are extremely talented players, and we are all excited to see what they can do together as a team.”

Ethan Butters of Chandler is walking into the Junior America’s Cup with three top-10s of the 2024 season. Previously, Butters competed in 12 events for the 2023 season which included top-10s for all 12 events with six wins. Top finishes this season include the Thunderbird Invitational and the Bryce Molder Invitational.

Brasen Briones of Tucson is going into the Junior America’s Cup excited to kick off his senior year of high school. In 2023, Briones competed in 11 JGAA events which included two wins and six top 10 finishes. Other notable finishes for Briones include the FBGA PING Jr Masters and the Bryce Molder Invitational for the 2024 season. 

Landon Ashcraft of Scottsdale heads into the Junior America’s Cup with a sharp game. In the 2024 season which includes three top 10s, and two individual Boys Championship wins at the FBGA PING Jr Masters and the Betsy King IMG Academy Jr. World Qualifier.

Adam Croix of Peoria comes into the Junior Americas Cup with eight tournaments under his belt. Including, a win at the Warren Schutte Invitational and three top 10 finishes for the 2024 JGAA season. Croix goes into the Junior America’s Cup as one of our seniors.

The Junior America’s Cup first started in 1959 as matches between Mexico, Alberta and the Southern California Junior Golf Associations with each association hosting the event every three years. Since 2001, the competition annually brings together an elite international field of 18, four-player teams featuring the top boys and girls representing 12 Western states, two Canadian provinces and Mexico.
