Litchfield Park’s Wheaton Ennis has been on a tear this year, both for the JGAA and on the national stage in AJGA events. Just this past week, Ennis came out victorious at the AJGA PGA Junior Championship out in Southern California. The future Texas A&M Aggie started out the event with two rounds in the 60s (69-65) to pull away from the rest of the field.
He got red-hot in the second round which included eight birdies on the scorecard and only one bogey. The 7-under 65 helped solidify his position heading into the final round and he maintained composure under pressure to finish at 2-under 70. Ennis finished the tournament at 12-under-par and won by an impressive five strokes (204).
The win makes it his second AJGA victory of the year as he earned top honors at this year’s PING Heather Farr Classic back in April. He currently sits at 22 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings with over 239 total points.
