Max Lyons Wins 104th Wisconsin State Open

JGAA alum Max Lyons clutched up on the final stretch to hold off the field by two strokes after three-straight birdies to clinch the victory at the 104th Sutar Ward Group Wisconsin State Open Championship on Wednesday at Minocqua Country Club. Lyons, a rising senior golfer at Marquette University, won with a final score of 16-under 272.
The victory adds to his impressive golf career, which includes being the 2024 BIG EAST Men’s Golf Player of the Year and two-time All-BIG EAST First Team. He is also an Academic All-American with a 3.977 GPA in finance. This win marks him as one of only 18 amateurs to capture the title in the event’s 104-year history.
We are thrilled to see the 2020 JGAA Boys Player of the Year thrive at the collegiate level to add to an already noteworthy resume of accolades. Best of luck to Max on his senior year at Marquette and wishing him much success out on the links and in the classroom!

Aidan Krafft Wins Individual Title at Sahalee Players Championship

Last week, Aidan Krafft earned his first collegiate win at the Sahalee Players Championship in Sammamish, Washington. The Oregon Duck Sophomore remained in the pack after firing opening rounds of (71-70) 3-under par for the 36-hole round which would put him at T2 going into the final day. After being two shots back from the individual leader, Krafft pushed to get to 1-under par at the turn which got him to 4-under par for the event. This was enough to top the field as Krafft finished even par on the back nine to finish the tournament at 4-under par with rounds of 71-70-71 to win the Sahalee Players Championship.
Aiden Krafft was also named BIG 10 Men’s Player of the week for his outstanding performance. Krafft has competed in several JGAA events throughout his high school career, even traveling back and forth from his hometown of Albuquerque, NM. We wish Aiden the best as he continues his collegiate career at Oregon. Go Ducks!

Preston Summerhays Sits at No. 1 for PGA TOUR University Rankings

After coming off a team win and individual T2 finish at the Sahalee Players Championship, Arizona State’s Preston Summerhays remains at No. 1 for the season’s full ranking for PGA TOUR University’s Class of 2025. To summarize, Summerhays is going into his senior year which means that if he can hang on to his No. 1 PGA TOUR University ranking by the end of the year, he will earn his PGA TOUR card for the 2025 season upon graduation from Arizona State University. We wish Preston the best as he continues to represent Arizona golf and chase his dreams. Forks up!
