The Tucson native recorded rounds of 76 and 72 on day one, before finishing Tuesday with a 73 for a total tournament score of 221 (+5) and her first-place finish. The win marks her first as a college athlete as she’s off to a hot start to her junior year in the MAC Conference. She competed in eight events for the Ohio Bobcats during the 2023-2024 season and recorded a 76.5 stroke average. With a previous best finish of T-6th at the Lady Jaguar Invitational, this past tournament is a breakthrough victory.
The Ohio Bobcats team started strong in the first round on Monday with a team score of 309, improving to 302 in the second round. The Bobcats finished the tournament on Tuesday with an impressive 295, marking the lowest team score of the day.
During her junior golf days, McRee was an individual state champion winner for the 2018-19 season and the 2021-22 season. In the eight seasons she played on the JGAA, McRee managed to rack up four wins on the JGAA.
“Congrats to Mackenzie on earning her first collegiate win,” said JGAA Executive Director Scott McNevin. “The JGAA is so proud of everything she has accomplished during her career at the University of Ohio. This is just icing on the cake.”
