Marquette freshman and JGAA alum Vincent Cervantes recently accomplished a milestone moment in his collegiate career—earning individual medalist honors at the 2025 Irish Creek Collegiate in Kannapolis, North Carolina.
Vincent Cervantes fired a 6-birdie scorecard on Tuesday and held off Charleston Southern’s Layne Lambert in a two-hole playoff (Nos. 18 and 1) to clinch his first career collegiate win. The JGAA alum carded rounds of 72-64 to finish at 4-under-par 136, helping lead Marquette to a team victory. The former Hamilton golfer showed impressive composure throughout the event, particularly in the final round where he carded six birdies and just two bogeys. His closing 4-under-par 67 was the lowest score of the day.
Cervantes becomes the fourth individual medalist for Marquette in the last five seasons, joining an elite group of Golden Eagle golfers in his first season. The Golden Eagles claim their third team title and seventh top two finish of the season with a 9-under final round in the Irish Creek Collegiate. MU won the team event by 13 strokes.
He’s been in top form this spring—Tuesday’s 64 marked a collegiate career low, and seven of his 10 rounds this season have been at par or better. Congratulations, Vincent! Your JGAA family is proud to watch you shine at the next level.
