Loyola Marymount University golfer Riley Lewis put together a stellar senior season, leading him to become WCC’s top-ranked golfer of 2024. Currently positioned at No. 59 on Clippd, the LMU Lion boasted two victories and five top-3 finishes this season. For the third consecutive year, Lewis emerged at the top of the leaderboard, entangled in a three-way deadlock at the WCC Championship following 54 holes. Lewis became the first golfer in Conference history with three consecutive first-place or tied-for-first-place finishes at the WCC Championships. Lewis is now a three-time All-WCC First Team golfer.
Prior to LMU, Lewis captained the BASIS Prescott High School Golf Team for two seasons. Throughout his high school tenure, he maintained an impressive scoring average of approximately 35 over three seasons, each consisting of nine-hole tournaments. Notably, the former JGAA player clinched the Team State Championship during his 8th-grade and 11th-grade years, alongside securing the Individual State Championship in all three years of team play. Riley’s performance also earned him a spot among the top 50 junior golfers nationwide. He achieved his lowest competitive round, a stellar 9- under 62, to secure victory in the JGAA Senior Classic, with the lowest overall round being an outstanding 11-under 61. Moreover, Lewis recorded an impressive scoring average of 70.57 throughout the 2020 JGAA season.
“From watching him compete at the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship at Grayhawk to seeing him thrive in 2024 WCC conference play, we are ecstatic to see Riley continue to dominate and perform at a very high level,” said JGAA Executive Director Scott McNevin. “We wish him the best of luck as he now aims to once again qualify for the NCAA National Championships.”
