Former Brophy standout and Fighting Illini golfer Michael Feagles started the final round five shots back of the top spot. The five-shot deficit was no match for Feagles as he went on a tear. The JGAA alum carded three birdies and an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole to record a front-nine 31, 5-under par. He didn’t let up on the back nine as he finished the final round with a bogey-free scorecard and piling on three more birdies to come from behind and post the lowest score in the field. Feagles concluded the final round at an impressive 8-under-par 64 to clinch first place by a stroke. The Scottsdale native ended the tournament at 16-under par and cashed in a $20,000 check to put the cherry on top. The Asher Tour win is the first of his professional career. He currently plays on the Korn Ferry Tour, and etched his name into the history books as Feagles broke 60 and posted a 59 at the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX. Feagles earned three top-25 finishes in the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour season.
During his junior golf days, Feagles ranked 33 in the Polo Golf Rankings, received an AJGA Third-Team All-America selection and won the USGA Junior Amateur qualifier. The former Brophy golfer took second-place honors at the prestigious AJGA Heather Farr Classic and earned a top-10 finish at the AJGA Thunderbird International. He was one of the top junior golfers nationally in the class of 2016.
“To secure a professional win at a golf course he grew up competing on with the JGAA is pretty special,” said JGAA Executive Director Scott McNevin. “The sky is the limit for Michael, and we couldn’t be more proud of him chasing his dreams to one day become a PGA TOUR member.”
