From his junior golf days out of Mesa to becoming an official member of the PGA TOUR. Former JGAA standout and Arizona State University alum Mason Andersen has officially earned his PGA TOUR membership after two impressive back-to-back seasons on the Korn Ferry Tour. His breakthrough came with an early-season playoff victory at the prestigious 117th Visa Argentina Open, presented by Macro. This win not only helped secure his first TOUR card but also earned him an exemption in the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon, where he competed but missed the cut.
As a rookie on the 2023-2024 Korn Ferry Tour, Andersen showcased his talent by finishing 22nd on the Points List and capturing four top 10s. His journey to the PGA TOUR is extraordinary, being one of just eight players to advance through every stage of the 2022 Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying Tournament (now known as PGA TOUR Q-School, presented by Korn Ferry), starting all the way from Pre-Qualifying.
Before turning professional, Andersen had an incredible collegiate career at Arizona State University, where he played five seasons from 2017 to 2022. During his time as a Sun Devil, he claimed two individual titles, earned a spot on the 2022 All-America Third Team and was a key part of ASU’s success at the 2022 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Championship. The Sun Devils made it all the way to the championship match against Texas right here in Scottsdale at Grayhawk Golf Club.
Born and raised in Mesa, Arizona, his earliest golf memories all started with the Junior Golf Association of Arizona. During his junior golf days, the former Hamilton High School star racked up five JGAA wins topped by a victory at the 2016 Thunderbird Invitational, a PING Junior Masters Series event at Papago Golf Club.
Now, with his PGA TOUR membership in hand, Mason is set to represent his hometown on golf’s biggest stage, continuing to chase his dreams.
“Congrats to Mason on such a well-deserved achievement of earning his TOUR card,” said JGAA Executive Director Scott McNevin. “To see your dreams come true through hard work and dedication is so rewarding for all of us at the JGAA. Way to make us proud!”
