On May 4 & 5, the 23rd annual Quintero Cactus Cup was held at Quintero Golf Club, one of the top-ranked public courses in Arizona. The Founder’s team won for the 4th consecutive year, beating the Charter team in an extra-hole playoff.
The team match play event consisted of 36 holes on Saturday and 18 Holes on Sunday. The two teams, Founders and Charter, were comprised of five boys and five girls who were paired by their respective captains.
Following the Saturday morning Foursome Matches and afternoon Four-Ball Matches, the Founder team held a commanding lead of 7 – 3 going into the Sunday Singles Matches. Overall, the Founders team took care of business in the Sunday Singles matches 5 ½ to 4 ½. After three rounds of match play, the Founders team retained the Quintero Cup, securing their fourth-straight victory, with a final score of 12 ½ to 7 ½. Captains Frank Krivas and Katie Goodwin led the Founders team.
