Tyler Spielman of Cave Creek qualified to play in the U.S. Junior Amateur with a first-place, 5-under-par 66, three strokes ahead of Owen Bolles of Chandler, (2-under-par 69) at Tatum Ranch Golf Club on June 12. After ending up in third place at even par 71, Arjun Somani of Scottsdale made the cut and advances to Charleston. For the final spot, it went down to the very end in dramatic fashion. Johnnie Clark of Mesa finished his round one-over 72 and forced himself into a playoff to squeak into the USGA championship. Clark managed to receive the 4th spot on the 2ND playoff hole with a birdie. Parker Bond of Phoenix qualified for the USGA Junior Amateur yesterday at The Meadows Course at Grand Valley State in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This is his second year in a row making it through the qualifier. He finished second at even par, two shots behind the winner and one shot ahead of a three-way playoff for the final spot in that regional qualifier. Wyatt Chapman of Gilbert qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur in New Mexico out of the Sun Country Golf Association. Noah Kaoni of Phoenix and Wheaton Ennis of Litchfield Park will be the two alternates. The U.S. Junior Amateur will be hosted next month, July 24-29, by Daniel Island Club, Charleston, North Carolina.
