The Keckstrong Chandler City Junior Championship teed off Sept. 7-8 at Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass and Oakwood Golf Club. In the Boys Championship division, held at Whirlwind Golf Club-Devils Claw, Dylan Boenning of Phoenix stood a shot back of Kaj Johnston of Cave Creek after a 4-under-par 68 in the first round. Boenning would go on to catch fire in the final day of play, rattling off four birdies on the front nine and carding a bogey-free 32. The lead quickly belonged to the Brophy standout as his impressive performance continued with an eagle on the par-5 15th to seal the deal and run away with the victory. His final score of 11-under par solidified him as the only player in the field to rack up two rounds in the 60s (68-65). The final round 65 gave him a substantial lead of six strokes to cruise into his fourth JGAA win of the season. Joseph Nelson of Gilbert finished runner up after a bounce back round of 4-under par to conclude the tournament at 5-under par. Tommie Clark wrapped up the podium claiming solo-third place at 4-under par.

The Girls Championship division on the other hand, also contested at Whirlwind Golf Club-Devils Claw, was a tightly contested competition, with five players in the conversation to capture the top spot on the leaderboard. The ultimate matchup came down to Aubrey Hilgers of Litchfield Park and Jordin Cowing of Gilbert, after exchanging blows on the last day. Hilgers was beginning to run away from the field after a 3-under 33 on the front nine. However, it was a tale of two nines for Hilgers as her traction quickly slipped, recording three bogeys and a double on the par-3 12th. Jordin Cowing stayed steady and consistent on day 2 with an even par 72 to stay within striking distance of Aubrey and eventually tied for the No. 1 spot. Both golfers finished play at even par which forced a playoff to determine the winner. Hilgers eventually one-upped Cowing to take the Girls Championship division and earn her third overall win of the 2024 season. Charlene Lamb of Scottsdale took solo-third at 2-over par for the event.

In the Boys 15-18 division, hosted at Whirlwind Golf Club-Devils Claw, Andrew Duke of Fountain Hills claimed first-place honors by a stroke with a 71-73—144, an even par performance. At Oakwood Golf Club, Maverick Midthun of Gilbert held on to win the Boys 13-14 division in a playoff against Troy Stahl of Phoenix. Midthun finished at 10-under par (69-65-134). At Whirlwind Golf Club-Devils Claw back nine, Cat Dann (72) of Mesa finished first place in the Boys 11-12 division at even par. Joey Morin of Gilbert won the Boys 10 and Under division at 2-over par (74).
