The PING Invitational took place July 17-18 at Grand Canyon University Golf Course. Dallin Delgado stole the show in the Boys Championship division by going low in red figures as he topped his impressive performance with a final round 8-under-par 63. Delgado of Mesa was off to the races in the opening round as he posted a 3-under 63 to begin the tournament with a one-stroke lead. Trailing right behind him in leaderboard was Brennan Korn of Scottsdale after round one. Dallin opened the gap in the final round due to his 6-under 30 on the back nine to extend his lead by seven strokes. The margin was too wide for the remaining players in the field as Delgado cruised into victory to secure his first victory of the 2023 JGAA season. Austin Plunkett of Paradise Valley took solo second at 4-under par (71-67). Gael Quesada of Phoenix finished third for the event after a 3-under par showing (71-68).

With rounds of 1-over 72 and 2-under 69, Angela Zhikun Chen of Chandler and Eva Heinz of Goodyear tied atop the leaderboard and shared top honors at the end of regulation as each competitor finished at 1-under for the tournament. Both stayed evenly matched throughout the entirety of the PING Invitational as neither player folded heading down the stretch. Angela Zhikun Chen finished 2-under in the final round (69) to remain in the hunt, while Eva Heinz concluded play with an even par 71 to stay in solid position. The tie led to a playoff between Heinz and Chen. Eva Heinz of Goodyear clutched up on the first playoff hole after making par to wound up in first place. Alexis Vakasiuola of San Tan Valley had another impressive outing with a top three performance. This year’s four-time JGAA winner ended at 1-over (75-68) to earn a top-three result. Her final-round 68 was the lowest score in the Girls Championship division.

Kaj Johnston of Cave Creek won in the Boys 15-18 division by a resounding nine strokes at 5-under par, shooting 67-70. Zachary Schaefer of Tucson won the Boys 13-14 division by a stroke at 9-under par (69-64). Schaeffer shot a season-low 7-under par in the final round to take home the hardware. And Hunter Mirata of Gilbert took the Boys 10 and Under division with a score of 6-over par (37-41).
