In just her second AJGA start of the 2024 season, Aubrey Hilgers joins the winner’s circle after a 7-over par performance at the Discover Austin Minnesota Junior Championship presented by Hormel Foods. Highlights included an eagle on hole 12 in the final round and a bogey-free back nine in the opening round. The Surprise standout came from behind in the final round with a 1-over 73 in the final round to pass Lavanya Gupta of India by a stroke. She finished the three-day tournament with scores of 74-76-73 to beat out 78 juniors ranging from ages 12-19 from all over the world. Hilgers tallied six birdies throughout the 54 holes and maintained her composure down the stretch to achieve the comeback.
“We are so excited and proud to see Aubrey win her first AJGA event in such dramatic fashion,” said JGAA Executive Director Scott McNevin. “This is just the beginning for the high school freshman, and this certainly won’t be the last we see of Aubrey at the top of the leaderboard. Congrats!”
Aubrey already has two JGAA wins under her belt this season and is having a breakout year. She currently ranks 7th in the Golembiewski Team JGAA Player of the Year Points.
