Boy’s event to be held at Guadalajara Country Club, Guadalajara, Mexico; Girl’s event to be held at Del Rio Country Club, Modesto, California
The 2016 Junior America’s Cup kicks off July 24-28 with two teams representing Arizona – one boys and one girls – set to compete against an elite international field.

GIRLS RESULTS
On the boys side, Arizona’s four-player team will play in the 54-hole tournament where their three lowest scores will determine their team score against teams from Alberta, British Columbia, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Mexico I, Mexico II, Montana, Nevada, Northern California, Oregon, San Diego, Southern California, Sun Country, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Players also will be competing for the Sally Pini award, which recognizes the individual medalist.
“We look forward to the Junior America’s Cup each year,” said Scott McNevin, Executive Director of the Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA). “It’s a storied event with a long history that includes many of the top professionals on tour today. The Arizona teams are very strong this year. We’re looking for a solid finish from both.”
On the girl’s side, the Arizona Girls’ Junior America’s Cup team will compete in a 36-hole tournament where their three lowest scores will determine the total team score against teams from British Columbia, Canadian Jr Golf Association, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Mexico, Montana, New Mexico, Northern California, Northern Nevada, Oregon, San Diego, Southern California, Southern Nevada, Sun Country, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
Arizona Boys Team:
Tucson’s Jonathan Walters made the team after posting two wins this season on the JGAA’s schedule at the Tucson Conquistadores Spring Classic in April and Yuma City Junior Championship in May. He also notched nine top-10 finishes in 14 tournaments played.
Tony Hendricks of Phoenix won twice during the season including a Junior Masters Series win at the Charlie Beljan Invitational in May along with the Thunderbird Junior Classic in June. He also placed in the top 10 in 10 of 14 events entered.
Hayden Sayre of Phoenix won the AM&E Classic, a Junior Masters Series tournament hosted by local PGA Tour player, Bryce Molder. He also posted top-10 finishes in 11 of 15 tournaments that he entered.
Alejandro de Zavala’s best finish, T2, came at the IMG Academy Junior World Qualifier in June. The Phoenix resident also finished in the top 10 in five of seven tournaments this season.

Arizona Girls Team:
Ashely Menne of Surprise enjoyed a dream season this year with an astounding 11 wins in 19 tournaments entered. And when she didn’t win, she was still near the top of the leaderboard with only one finish outside of the top 5.
Kelly Su of Scottsdale posted a win at the IMG Academy Junior World Qualifier in June on her way to a solid season where she finished T5 or better in all nine events she entered. She also qualified to play in the U.S. Women’s Amateur to be played August 1-7.
Breyana Matthews of Scottsdale made the team after a solid season with top-10 finishes in all but one of the 9 events she entered. And in the 10 events she entered this season, Rachel Fujitani of Chandler placed in the top 10 in all but three.
