We wanted to congratulate one of our JGAA Alumni, Davis Johnson, on earning his first collegiate win this week at The Tindall held at Aldarra Golf Club in Sammamish, WA. The 54-hole event was contested on Sept. 23-24. The Tindall’s field included many top contender teams from the NCAA’s Big 12 Conference.
Davis is currently a redshirt Junior at The University of Utah. And after coming off a team win for their season opener at the Palouse Collegiate, the Utes were rolling into The Tindall with some serious momentum. After a long 36-hole day, Davis came in clutch for his team by firing back-to-back rounds of 67-66 to finish the day at 9-under par individually. This led the Utes to lead the tournament by 5 shots going into the final round. Davis coasted into the clubhouse for the final day and carded a 69 2-under par to contribute to his team’s final round score of 13-under par, the lowest team score of the day by 9 shots. The Utah Utes came out victorious for the tournament with a 54-hole total of 819, 33-under par to win The Tindall.
Davis ended up finishing the tournament at 11-under par, which also earned him low individual honors and co-win with UCLA’s Pablo Ereno since there was no record of a playoff. We look forward to keeping up with Davis and his team’s success as they continue throughout their fall season. Go Utes!
