The JGAA is thrilled to announce that PGA TOUR winner and Arizona native Matt McCarty will serve as the new title sponsor of the long-running Mesa City Junior, now officially named the Matt McCarty Mesa Junior Championship.

A former JGAA star himself, McCarty joins an elite group of alumni giving back to the game that shaped them. He is the third former JGAA player to sponsor a championship, joining Bryce Molder, who continues to support the Bryce Molder Invitational, and past sponsors Charlie Beljan and Michael Thompson.

For McCarty, the decision to sponsor the Mesa event is a deeply personal one.

“I grew up playing the course with my dad,” said McCarty. “It’s one of those events that sticks with you. To come back now and support the next generation of Arizona golfers—it means the world to me.”

McCarty’s journey from a junior golfer in Arizona to a PGA TOUR champion has been marked by hard work, grit, and dominant performances that are now earning him recognition on the global stage. He currently ranks inside the Top 60 in the OWGR.

“Matt is a shining example of what the JGAA is all about,” said Scott McNevin, Executive Director of the JGAA. “To see him succeed professionally and now give back to junior golf is incredibly special. His involvement will no doubt inspire the players competing in the Matt McCarty Mesa Junior Championship for years to come.”

This year’s tournament will feature top junior golfers from across the state, many of whom are chasing the same dream McCarty once had—making it to the next level, both on and off the course.

The Matt McCarty Mesa Junior Championship will take place June 25-26 in Mesa, continuing the tradition of competitive excellence and community connection that the JGAA has proudly fostered for decades.
