By September 16, 2026No Comments

The JGAA was back in action this past weekend at the Keckstrong Chandler City Junior Championship, once again bringing two days of outstanding play and intense competition to Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass and Raven Golf Club. The future of golf is in good hands.

Starting off with the Boys Championship division, held at Whirlwind Golf Club-Devils Claw, Tucson’s very own Parker Servoss stood a shot ahead of Nolan Wilson (Litchfield Park) after a 7-under-par 65 in the opening round. His sights were set on going wire-to-wire and did just that and then some. The final round performance proved to be pure masterclass, lighting up the scorecard with a whole lot of red, bogey-free and rattling off 10 birdies to card a 10-under-par 62. The highlight of his play featured an incredible stretch on the front nine where he birdied six-straight holes (2-7) en route to almost breaking 30. Wilson fired an identical 6-under 66, but it was no match for Servoss’ hot hand. The field belonged to the Tucson native as his noteworthy showing led to a comfortable five-shot victory at 17-under par for the event (65-62-127). The notable win allows him to rack up his third of the 2026 season in what’s been a season to remember. Right behind him was Wilson at 12-under par (66-66-132) and Ryan Rasmussen of Surprise took solo third at 9-under par (68-67-135).

Now onto the Girls Championship division, with two players in the conversation to capture the trophy. While three players recorded red figure opening rounds, one player rose above the bunch and put on an absolute clinic. Abby Kelly of Mesa is the player to separate herself from the pack after a rock-solid final round tallying seven birdies and capped it with a bogeyless back nine that shut the door and put the exclamation point. Kelly pulled off a comeback after trailing by a couple strokes to clinch the championship division by two shots at 7-under par (71-66-137). The win marks the Mesa native’s sixth of the season. Mischa Wang of Scottsdale came in second at 5-under par (69-70-139) and Malone Wall of Scottsdale rounded out the podium in red figures at 1-under par (69-74-143).

In the Boys 15-18 division, hosted at Whirlwind Golf Club-Devils Claw, Parker Sessler of Phoenix controlled the contest with ease at 1-under par to claim the victory by four strokes (76-67-143). At Raven Golf Club, Jackson Frey of Peoria took care of business at 12-under to win the Boys 13-14 division (67-65-132). At Whirlwind Golf Club-Devils Claw back nine, Parker Tang of Buckeye (67) goes back-to-back after capturing the Boys 11-12 division at 5-under par (33-34-67). Zona Jo of Phoenix won the Boys 8-10 division after edging the field by a shot at 7-under par (34-31-65).

Shylee Kostiuk of Canada won at Whirlwind Golf Club-Devils Claw in the Girls 15-18 division at 4-over par (72-76-148). At Raven Golf Club, Leilani Herzberg of Gilbert dominated the field in the Girls 13-14 division by five strokes at 3-under par. Golf claps are in order for Herzberg as she jarred an ace on the second hole at Raven Golf Club (Hole 2 | 103 yards | 54° Wedge). At Whirlwind Golf Club- Devils Claw back nine, Keyanna Hattemar of Cave Creek wins the Girls 11-12 division by two strokes at 1-under par to bring home her third-straight piece of hardware. And lastly Julee Diaz of Phoenix repeats in the Girls 8-10 division by four strokes at 4-over par (39-37-76).
