Victory in Florida marks his first AJGA championship.
JGAA member Johnny Clark notched his first AJGA win in a modified stableford competition held October 8-11 on TPC Sawgrass Dye’s Valley Course. The Mesa resident put up seven points in the first round after a 2-under 70. In the second round Clark shot 72, collecting 3 points, before finishing strong in the final round with a birdie on 16 and eagle on 17. These two holes alone accounted for seven points of Clark’s one-point overall victory at 16. Matthew Foster of Dallas posted 15 points to finish tied for second place with Brock Blais of Ponte Vedra Beach.
Clark’s recent record in AJGA play leading up to his win included runner-up in Montana at the AJGA Junior at Big Sky in August along with a T6, just days after his win, at the Vaughn Taylor Championship in South Carolina.
JGAA member since 2014, Clark has racked up 17 JGAA wins since age 9, an astonishing 70 percent win rate.
