Wheaton Ennis of Litchfield Park put on a clinic at the 2023 AJGA Invitational Presented by PING. Ennis kicked off the last round with a commanding nine-stroke lead. He managed to score three birdies on the first nine holes, but unfortunately, he lost ground with two bogeys on the 6th and 8th. However, as he made the turn, he maintained a comfortable enough lead to clinch the victory, despite finishing the back nine two strokes over par. Ennis finished with a 6-under-par 207 to win the Boys Division. The win marks his first AJGA Invitational victory.

Ennis displayed full control of the Boys division as he held the outright lead through all three rounds of play. The Texas A&M commit secured a six-shot lead over the Boys Division field, which featured two of the top 10 players in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, including the defending champion of the event. Ranked 11th in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, Ennis also notched two AJGA wins this year (PING Heather Farr Classic and the PGA WEST Junior Championship).

“We are thrilled to see one of our JGAA players emerge triumphant in such a prestigious AJGA tournament,” said JGAA Executive Director Scott McNevin. “Wheaton’s success reflects the dedication and talent that our program nurtures, and we can’t wait to see what he accomplishes at Texas A&M next year.”
