The Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA) was well represented this week as former JGAA players took the competitive stage at two premier collegiate events — the Patriot All-America Invitational at The Wigwam Golf Club and The Thunderbolt at Sterling Grove Golf and Country Club. Multiple alumni competed against elite fields, showcasing the depth of Arizona’s junior golf development and making significant impacts throughout both tournaments.
Patriot All-America Invitational Results
On the girls’ side, three JGAA alums earned starts at the Patriot All-America Invitational:
- Gracie McGovern (Texas Christian University) T-31 at +7 (72-75-70-217)
- Carolyn Fuller (University of Colorado Boulder) T-48 at +10 (75-73-72- 220)
- Abbey Schutte (University of Arkansas) T-62 at +14 (74-74-76-224)
- Brynn Kort (Texas A&M University) T-66 at +17 (76-75-76-227)
- Mattison Frick (University of Alabama) T-72 at +23 (78-79-76-233)
On the boys’ side, six former JGAA standouts took on a tough collegiate field:
- Mahanth Chirravuri (Pepperdine University)

Chirravuri delivered an outstanding performance, earning himself a podium spot inside the top 3 at 7-under par. His final-round 64 (-6) highlighted by an ace on the par-3 16th on the Gold Course at Wigwam Golf Club.

The Thunderbolt — Sterling Grove G&CC
The Thunderbolt brought out a deep field, and several JGAA alums were in the mix across a competitive leaderboard:
- Rylan Johnson (Oregon State University)
The Oregon State Beaver made history at The Thunderbolt, breaking the course record at Sterling Grove Golf and Country Club. A clean 8-under 63 on the scorecard after recording eight birdies all while his brother was om the bag for his epic round. Johnson tied atop the leaderboard and finished solo-runner up at 9-under par (74-63-67-204).
- Vincent Cervantes (Marquette University)
The former Hamilton standout finished tied for third at 7-under par after two rounds in the 60s. Cervantes carded 14 birdies over the course of three rounds (72-65-69-206).
