The 122nd United States Open Championship is right around the corner, June 16-19, and like years past, several JGAA alumni qualified for the big show.

Fresh from a huge April victory at the 54th PGA Professional Championship, Jesse Mueller of Phoenix punched his ticket to The Country Club, Brookline, Massachusetts, by way of the Bay Area’s Olympic Club, where he worked into the top-5 to advance with 6-under-par (69-67) performance.

Peoria’s Ben Lorenz shot 71-67 at Bend, Oregon’s Pronghorn Resort to earn the location’s third and final spot. Thanks primarily to a 5-under second round, the Oklahoma sophomore finished at -6 for the tournament, two strokes behind two players tied for first place at -8.

PGA TOUR player Chan Kim fired a freakish 9-under 62 in the opening round to lead by three heading into the final round where he shot a 3-under 69 to finish tied for first place in the qualifier held at Columbus, Ohio’s Kinsale G. & F.C., Wedgewood Golf & Country Club.

After a first round 71, three strokes off the pace, Matt McCarty of Scottsdale posted a clean 5-under 66 at Ansley Golf Club in Roswell, Georgia to advance to the 2022 U.S. Open. The Korn Ferry Tour player finished the tournament T3 at -6, just one stroke back. CLICK HERE to watch Matt qualify.

Congratulations and play well!
