The 2025 Winter Classic wrapped up December 6-7 with junior golfers ages 8-18 competing in five age groups at Sun City South and Grandview Golf Club.

The leaderboard remained stacked after the first day of play in the Boys Championship division. Easton Reischel of Scottsdale led the charge after the first round; firing off a five-under 67 at Grandview Golf Club. Ten players remained within arm’s reach for the top spot as they trailed by four or less strokes. The game of hot potato carried on as rapid lead changes ensue between five players on the final day. Reischl kept his poise and refused to lose his stride in the final round, shutting the door to the rest of the field. Mateo Berastegui recorded the best round with a 6-under 66 to claw his way back into the mix, but it wound up falling just short of the top spot as Reischl edged the competition by a mere stroke to close it out at 7-under par. The victory marks his first of the 2025 season, with Ty Gould of Gilbert and Berastegui tying for runner up at 6-under.

In the Girls Championship division, contested at Sun City South, Washingtonian Nicole Tang set the tone early and got the ball rolling. Tang started off with a bang in the opening round, carding the only scorecard in the 60s at 3-under 69. From there, she kept the pedal to the medal and blew past the field by a substantial margin. She put together two solid rounds of 69-72 (-3) featuring seven total birdies over the weekend. She ran away from the rest of the competitors in the field, clinching the championship division by a staggering six strokes. Emmerson Hinds of Nevada claimed second place at 3-over par while Hana McGarry of California took solo third place at 4-over.

Contested at Grandview Golf Club, Koy Huebner of Phoenix won the Boys 15-18 division after prevailing in a head-to-head playoff against Carter Yanulavich. Nathan Day of Washington also triumphed in the Boys 13-14 division by a sudden-death playoff against Cam Abood at Sun City South. In the Boys 11-12 division at Sun City South (9 holes – front nine), Anthony Arguello of Fort Huachuca (38) took home the title at 2-over par.

In the Girls 15-18 division held at Sun City South, Alyxandra Sumner of Scottsdale finished at 77-72—149 to clinch by two strokes at 5-over par. The win marks her second of the season. Fatima Wahnnatah Hurtado of Tucson posted 74-76—150 (+6) at Sun City South to earn victory No. 2 in the Girls 13-14 division. Scottsdale’s Sofia Boettcher recorded a 40 (+4) on the front nine at Sun City South (9 holes) to capture the Girls 11-12 division. Karinae Peterson of Cave Creek outlasts Breeja Foster to pull off the dub by five strokes at 10-over par in the Girls 10 & Under division.
