The 2022 Holiday Challenge by Mass Mutual – Arizona teed off December 21 featuring 76 boys and 36 girls competing in an 18-hole, two-person team scramble format on Grayhawk Golf Club’s Raptor Course, home of the 2021-2023 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships.

It turned out to be crowded at the top of the leaderboard in the Boys Championship division, with 10 teams within four strokes of medalists Charlie Palmer of Paradise Valley paired with Adam Miller of Phoenix. They fired 9-under-par 61, featuring five birdies per side, en route to the one-stroke victory over Brasen Briones and Beckett Carlson both of Tucson, who shot 8-under-par 62. The team of Fin Vander Ark and Brennan Korn, both from Scottsdale, tied for third place with Jack Taylor and James Rogers both of Scottsdale at 7-under 63, two strokes off the pace.

The twosome of Scottdale’s Gracie McGovern and Chandler’s Ailis Tribolet enjoyed a bit more breathing room, with a four-stroke victory. They shot 12-under 60, including seven-consecutive birdies from No. 7 through No. 14 to finish ahead of second place finishers, Lena Durette of Scottsdale and Alexis Vakasiuola of San Tan Valley at 8-under 64. Nikki Bowen of Surprise and Rylee Stovall of Litchfield Park came in third place at 4-under 68.
