Second AJGA win comes one year after first
Scottsdale’s Camden Braidech notched his second AJGA win in just over a year, firing -10 to win by two strokes at the Mizuno Junior at Big Sky, held August 22 – 25 at Sky Golf Course, Montana.
He started out with a wild first round, shrugging off some big numbers with a bunch of birdies and an eagle to finish with a 2-under 70. Braidech tightened-up his game in the next two rounds, with a pair of 68s to move into the lead for good. Lance Smith (66-76-66) of Holladay, Utah, who held the first round lead, took a share of second place at -8 alongside Nelson Lee (71-69-68) of Fresno, California.
“I hit 17 greens today and the one green I missed I was 8 inches off and I had a 12-foot birdie putt.” said Braidech. “It was kind of a cruising round today. I didn’t have to work too, too crazy hard. I didn’t get really high and didn’t get super low. I gave myself a lot of looks.”
Braidech’s first AJGA win came at the beginning of August 2021 at the Colorado Springs Junior by Centura Health. He also won the 2020 Qualifier for the AJGA Longbow Golf Club Open at home in Mesa.
In JGAA competition, Braidech won the first tournament of the season, New Year Classic, picked up a fifth place finish at Phoenix Metro Jr Championship, T2 at Mesa City Jr and T4 at Prescott City Jr Championship.
