The first round of the Thunderbird Invitational teed off March 12 with Philip Kench of Del Mar, California putting up an incredible 5-under 67 to lead the pack. In the second round it was Chandler’s Vincent Cervantes who shot 67. He added it to a first round 76 to take a share of second place at -1 for the tournament alongside Kench who cooled off with a second round 76. A steady Chase Gorder of Anthem shot rounds of 71-72 to enter the three-way tie for second place.

In a wild ride, Brayden Bozak – bound for UNLV – came in first place after shooting rounds of 72-70 in an up-and-down performance before ending up at even par and 2-under, respectively, each day. The tight race ended with Bozak as champion after shooting the deciding 3-under final nine holes for the one-stroke victory over Cervantes, Gorder and Kench.

In the Girls Championship division, Jennifer Seo of Chandler jumped out to the first round lead after shooting 1-over-par 73, with Anna Huang of Coto de Caza, California and Sammie Olson of Phoenix trailing behind by a stroke. Seo then improved by two strokes the next day, 71, to win the tournament by five shots at even par. Two players came in second place:  Brynn Kort of Henderson, Nevada shot rounds of 75-74; and Huang followed with a 75.
