Ashley Menne Achieves Three-Peat With Her Third Career Arizona Women’s Amateur Victory

By August 4, 2023No Comments

The accolades list continues to grow for Arizona State University senior Ashley Menne who has solidified her place in Arizona amateur golf history. She joins elite company with Arizona golf legends Heather Farr, Tui Selvaratnam, and Julie Stranger as the only women to earn three or more Arizona Women’s Amateur Championships. Menne started the tournament trailing by four strokes to current JGAA member and future Razorback Abbey Schutte of Litchfield Park, daughter of Warren Schutte.

The Sun Devil gathered momentum as the tournament progressed and became a rubberneck matchup between Schutte and Menne for the top spot in the Championship division. In blistering heat and tough conditions heading into the final round, Menne didn’t let it phase her as she persevered and fought hard through the duration of the round. Her efforts ended up worthwhile as Menne separated herself from Abbey Schutte of Litchfield Park at three-under par (70-70-73) to collect yet another Arizona Women’s Amateur victory. For Menne, it wasn’t about being perfect from the get-go but rebounding when it counts.

“It’s not about being perfect. It’s about dealing with the misses,” said Ashley Menne in an interview with Arizona Golf Association after the second round.

“We are so immensely proud of Ashley for everything she’s accomplished up to this point, and this is just another impressive accolade to position herself as a top-caliber amateur golfer in Arizona golf history,” said JGAA Executive Director Scott McNevin. “What a joy it has been to see her develop into the champion golfer she is today.”
