Arizona’s top junior golfers set to compete at Paradise Valley Country Club.

Arizona’s best junior golfers (51 boys and 33 girls) will compete for the State Junior Golf Championship at Paradise Valley Country Club, Tuesday, June 18 through Wednesday, June 19 with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. each morning of the 36-hole tournament.

Caden Christopherson of Chandler enters the field to defend his title against last year’s runner-up, Mahanth Chirravuri also of Chandler, who finished one stroke off the pace. Third-place finisher, Blake Lorenz of Peoria, rounds out the top three from last year returning to the field. Christopherson’s best finish so far this year, T4, came in February at the Raven Invitational – FBGA – PING Jr Masters. In the same event, Chirravuri posted a second-place finish to go with three other top-10 finishes in six events. Lorenz has played steady golf, placing fourth or better in four tournaments since March. He also earned the Division I State Golf Championships in 2018.

On the Girl’s side, defending champion, Ashley Menne of Surprise, will play for an unprecedented fourth-straight JGAA state title in the Girls Championship division. She also won three-straight Division I State Championships with Xavier Prep, a feat that places her in rarefied air alongside two Xavier Prep alums Grace Park and Heather Farr.

With nine of the top-10-ranked players in the field, Menne will need to hold off strong players such as Madeleine Laux of Goodyear, who has won twice and placed in the top-5 in six other tournaments. The fourth through 10th-ranked players in the field are: Abbey Schutte of Goodyear, Maya Benita of Tucson, Sydney Bryan of Mesa, Kailani Deedon of Mesa, Breyana Matthews of Scottsdale, Mattison Frick of Peoria and Kendall Todd of Goodyear.
