Avondale’s own Ajay Morris joins the AJGA winner’s circle at the 2025 Memorial Junior, capturing his first career AJGA title in dramatic fashion. The current JGAA member posted a 3-under-par total of 210, beating the field by two strokes and capping off a memorable week of top-notch golf.
Morris caught fire in the second round, where he torched the course with a bogey-free 63, setting a new course record and notching his lowest competitive round ever. He strung together 22 consecutive bogey-free holes, a display of precision that helped separate him from a talented field.
“This win feels good; it was a lot of hard work and sacrifice that has been put into this,” said Morris. “I’ve been close before, but everything came together this week, so it feels great.”
The victory marks a significant milestone for the rising star, who has been steadily climbing the national junior golf ranks (Top 150). With this win, Morris adds his name to a growing list of JGAA members making waves at the national level. This fall, Morris will take the next step in his golf journey at the University of Texas at Arlington.
