Kohl Kuebler and Carly Strole Post Wins at the Antigua Milt Coggins AZ Junior Stroke Play

Kuebler posts back-to-back wins; Carly coasts to six-stroke victory

Gilbert resident Kohl Kuebler notched his second-consecutive JGAA win in the Boys Championship Division by firing a 5-under-par 205 (67-71-67) at Encanto G.C. at the Antiqua Milt Coggins AZ Junior Stroke Play, a 54-hole event held June 5-7. On May 31, Kuebler also won the Tucson City Jr Championship. So far this season, he has posted two wins, a T2, 3^rd and 9^th place finishes in five events played.

Jonathan Curran (70-70-66—206) of Scottsdale finished in second place – one stroke off of Keebler’s pace – after making a valiant final-round run with a 4-under 66. Jake Benanti of Scottsdale finished in third place at 3-under-par 207 (67-70-70).

In the Girls Championship Division, Carly Strole of Avondale found herself in a three-way tie for first place after a first-round 74 before pulling away from the field with 71 and 72 in the next two rounds (217, +1) to win by six strokes over second-place finisher, Leighton Shosted, (76-71-76—223, +7) of Mesa and 10 strokes ahead of Bailee Tayles (76-76-75—227, +11) of Scottsdale. The win marks a breakthrough for Strole after two second-place finishes in her last two starts.

In addition to the Championship Divisions, Zachary McDermid of Mesa won the Boys 15-18 Division at 3-under-par (70-69-68—207); Charlie Palmer of Phoenix won the Boys 13-14 Division at 8-under par (70-71-64—205); Kush Shah of Chandler edged out Tyler Spielman of Cave Creek in a playoff to win the Boys 11-12 Division at 2-under par (34-35-37—106); and Gavin Ly of Goodyear (34-38-36—108) won in the Boys 10 and Under Division at even par.

On the Girls side, Caleigh Essert of Torrington, Wyoming won the Girls 15-18 Division at 1-under par (70-75-70—215); Mattison Frick of Peoria defended her title with a win in the Girls 13-14 Division (78-75-77—230, +17), her third of the season; Ailis Tribolet of Chandler took the Girls 11-12 Division (36-43-39—118, +10); and Alexis Lamadrid of Phoenix won the 10 and Under Division (39-40-39—118, +10).
