JGAA Sweeps Tucson, Claire Brookes Wins in Colorado as Three Members Earn First Career AJGA Titles

By June 5, 2026No Comments

Call it a legendary week. Call it a generational run. Whatever you call it, the results speak for themselves.

Three JGAA members. Three first career AJGA victories. Two tournaments. One unforgettable week for Arizona junior golf.

Owen Greenough of Chandler and Lauren Richardson of Rancho Santa Fe claimed a complete Arizona sweep of the Jim Click Automotive / HSL Properties Championship presented by the Tucson Conquistadores, while Claire Brooks of Scottsdale added a Girls Division title at The Wyndham Clark Presented by the Colorado Golf Association in Westminster, Colorado. When the dust settled on one of the most productive stretches in recent JGAA history, three of the association’s own had stepped into the AJGA winner’s circle for the first time.

Arizona Owns Tucson

At Tucson Country Club, the Jim Click Automotive / HSL Properties Championship presented by the Tucson Conquistadores belonged to Arizona from start to finish — and the JGAA had its fingerprints all over the leaderboard.

Owen Greenough masterfully executed one of the most commanding performances of the AJGA season thus far. The Chandler native posted three consecutive under-par rounds to finish at 10-under-par 206, pulling away from the field by four strokes to claim the Boys Division title. His week was defined by relentless birdie-making and decisive scoring bursts, 15 birdies across 54 holes, two eagles in the second round, and a closing round that featured seven birdies to toss any doubt to rest.

On the girls’ side, Lauren Richardson matched Greenough’s dominance with a masterclass in consistency. The JGAA member shot three consecutive rounds of 72 to finish at even-par 216, claiming the Girls Division title with a bogey-free back nine in the closing round that showcased exactly the kind of composure champions are made of. She carded 10 birdies throughout the week and never flinched when the tournament was on the line.

“I’ve put in a lot of hard work, especially this year,” Richardson said. “I’ve worked countless hours, so it’s nice to finally get a win and see that hard work translates to the course.”

It did, and then some. Back-to-back JGAA champions at the same tournament is the kind of result that doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because the foundation is there.

Brooks Battles in Westminster

While Greenough and Richardson were sweeping Tucson, Claire Brooks was writing her own story 600ish miles north in Westminster, Colorado.

Competing at The Wyndham Clark Presented by the Colorado Golf Association at Walnut Creek Golf Preserve, the Scottsdale native came out firing in the opening round, posting a 5-under-par 67 (her low round of the week) highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 18th hole. She recorded eight birdies throughout the tournament and ultimately finished at 1-over-par 217, forcing a two-hole playoff against a deep field that included runner-up finishers Naomi Koontz of Newton, Kansas, and Ella Scott of Castle Rock, Colorado — both of whom also finished at 1-over-par in one of the most fiercely contested Girls Divisions of the AJGA season.

When the playoff arrived, Brooks didn’t blink.

“I tried to leave everything from my last day behind me and go into the playoff with an open mindset and just play my best golf,” she said.

She did exactly that and walked away with her first AJGA title.

A Week to Remember

Three champions. Three first career titles. One week.

For the JGAA, the outstanding performances of Greenough, Richardson, and Brooks are more than a collection of results. They truly reflect what this association has always been built to produce. Junior golfers who are prepared for the biggest moments, capable of competing against the best in the country, and ready to win when the lights are at their brightest.

Arizona showed up and showed out this week. In Tucson, it swept the podium. In Colorado, it racked up another title. The JGAA family has never been louder, and the Summer season is just getting started.
