Current JGAA member Lauren Richardson, a Gilbert native and member of the 2030 class, captured her latest AJGA title with a one-shot victory at the AJGA Junior at Red Rock presented by Rapid City Sports Commission at Golf Club at Red Rock in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Richardson opened with a 72 and added a 73 in the second round to sit at 3-under through 36 holes, tied for the lead. She closed with a 1-under 70 in the final round for a 54-hole total of 1-under 215, never posting worse than a 73 across the three days.
Amanda Peng made a late push, firing the low round of the day among the leaders at 3-under 69 to pull within a shot, but Richardson’s steady closing round held up. Peng finished second at even-par 216. Victoria Wang, who had shared the lead with Richardson through 36 holes, carded a 73 in the final round to finish third at 2-over 218.
The win adds to a strong run of success for JGAA members on the national junior circuit this summer. The JGAA congratulates Lauren on the victory and looks forward to following her continued success this season and beyond.
