The Prescott City Junior Championship teed off July 9-10 at Antelope Hills Golf Course. In the Boys Championship division, Prescott resident Trevor Lewis finished the first round tied for first place with Rylan Johnson of Gilbert at 3-under-par 69, the only two rounds in the 60s for the tournament. Lewis followed with a 1-under 70 to pull away from Johnson (69-74—143) by four strokes to finish at 4-under-par 139. Davis Johnson of Scottsdale took third place at 1-over-par 144 (71-73).
In the Girls Championship division, Lorel Hayward of Mesa turned in the sole under-par performance on the girls’ side with a steady 2-under-par 141 (71-70). Joy Callinan of Chandler came in second place at even-par 143 (72-71), and Emily Shimkus of Cave Creek took third place at 9-over-par 152 (77-75).
In the Boys 15-18 division, Vincent Cervantes of Chandler took first place with a 5-over-par 148 (76-72). In the Boys 13-14 division, Brady McDonough of Scottsdale (75-73) and Chase Gorder (70-78) of Anthem finished tied for first place at 5-under-par 148. McDonough went on to edge out Gorder on the second extra hole. In the Boys 11-12 division, Gavin Ly took first place with a 1-over-par 73 (38-35). And Brooks Rizvi of Cave Creek won the Boys 10 and Under division with and 11-over-par 83 (41-42).
Marsa Waite (75-82) of Chandler and Taylor Naumann (82-75) of Gilbert finished tied for first place in the Girls 15-18 division at 14-over-par 157. Waite broke the tie on the fourth playoff hole to win. Brooke McGlasson of Peoria shot rounds of 78-76 to win the Girls 13-14 Division with at 11-over-par 154. And Faith Lewis of Prescott won the Girls 10 and Under division at 41-over par (53-60—113).
