Play begins Saturday, August 11 at Portland, Oregon’s Riverside Golf & Country Club
The best junior golfers from the Western United States and Canada will converge on Riverside Golf & Country Club to compete in the 50th Eddie Hogan Cup Team Matches, taking place August 11-12. Teams representing Oregon, Southern California, Washington, Idaho, Hawaii, Utah, San Diego, Arizona, Northern California, Nevada and British Columbia are in the field.
In the four-person-team format, the three lowest individual scores each day determine the team total score. Medals are awarded to the top-three teams as well as the top-three individuals.
Last year, team Arizona finished in second place, 11 strokes off the pace. This year, team Arizona is made up of Gavin Aurilia and Jake Carlson both of Phoenix. Tucker Clark from Paradise Valley and Mahanth Chirravuri from Chandler round out the lineup.
June was a big month for Aurilia, 14, who notched a win at the Southwest Section PGA Junior Qualifier along with two runner-up finishes in American Junior Golf Association tournaments. So far this season, he has posted eight top-10 finishes in 10 events played.
Carlson, 17, currently sits in 5th place in the points race for JGAA Player of the Year honors after turning in seven top-5s in 11 tournaments, including second-place performances in two of the JGAA’s competitive Junior Master Series tournaments.
Clark, 16, returns to Arizona’s Hogan Cup team after a solid team finish last year. In June, he won the IMG Academy Junior World Qualifier in the Boys Championship Division and placed T4 in Willie Low Invitational, a Junior Masters Series tournament.
Chirravuri, 14, also placed first in the IMG Academy Junior World Qualifier in the Boys 13-14 Division to go with six other top-5 performances so for this season.

About the Eddie Hogan Cup
The event began in 1969 in commemoration of the vast achievements and contributions to the sport by Eddie Hogan, Riverside’s long-time head golf professional who served the club from 1939 until his tragic drowning death in 1968. Hogan, an Oregon Amateur champion and PNGA Amateur champion, was credited for transforming the role of the golf professional, developing what is now considered the standard for the green grass pro shop. Hogan was also dedicated in helping the Oregon Golf Association develop its widely recognized junior golf program.
Hogan Cup alumni include tour players such as Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler, Fred Couples, Bryson DeChambeau, Casey Martin, Peter Jacobsen, Jeff Quinney, Patrick Cantlay, Bobby Clampett, Lennie Clements, Scott Simpson, Robert Gamez, Bill Sanders, Kirk Triplett, John Fought and Jason Gore.
