Dalton Marsh and Millburn Ho Take Top Honors at the Bruce Brown Yuma City Junior Championship

Bruce Brown Scholarship Fund gives boost to JGAA players

Dalton Marsh of Chandler shot a 14-over-par 158 (76-82) to edge out Beau Reutter of Phoenix (82-77—159) by a stroke to place first in the Boys Championship Division at the Bruce Brown Yuma City Junior Championship played at Desert Hills Golf Course. Yuma’s Ethan Upayokin took third at 169 (83-86).

In the Girls Championship Division, Millburn Ho of Scottsdale shot a three-over-par 147 (75-72) to win by five strokes over two players tied for second place:  Alexandria Schmunk of Yuma (78-74—152); and Katie Stinchcomb of Cave Creek (73-79—152).

The event is played annually at Yuma’s Desert Hills Golf Course. After the passing of the long-time PGA Southwest member and general manager of the golf facility, Bruce Brown, his wife Laura and the JGAA established the Bruce Brown Memorial Scholarship in his name to award scholarship funds toward JGAA entry fees to deserving JGAA players.  

“Once again the Bruce Brown Yuma City Junior Championship turned out great,” said Scott McNevin, Executive Director of the JGAA.  “We’re truly honored to host this event in Bruce Brown’s name. His commitment to the game of golf and community is an inspiration to us all.”  

Raul Fragoso of Mesa placed first in the Boys 15-18 Division (81-78—159); Johnnie Clark of Mesa blistered the field in the Boys 13-14 Division with a two-under-par 141 (71-70); Ryan Sefrioui of Scottsdale won the Boys 11-12 Division (46-38—84) and Brennan Korn of Phoenix won in the Boys 10-and-Under Division (39-38—77). 

Reyna Hernandez of Gilbert won in the Girls 15-18 Division (78-79—157); Madeline Adam of Chandler won in the Girls 13-14 Division (84-82—166); and Brooke McGlasson of Peoria won in the Girls 11-12 Division.
