The NCAA Men and Women’s Division I Golf Championships are set and ready to go at Grayhawk Golf Club. The time has come for us to shine a spotlight on the extraordinary talent emerging from the Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA). Get ready to witness our sensational alumni taking the collegiate golf scene by storm as they tee off at the NCAA Men and Women’s Division I National Championship. We couldn’t be prouder!
The NCAA Championship is where our beloved JGAA alumni gather to showcase their golfing prowess, unleashing their finely honed skills and going head-to-head with the best collegiate talent from around the country.
On the women’s side, Sydney Seigel of Scottsdale now plays on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane squad and will be competing for a chance at the individual and team titles. The two-year letterwinner has played in 19 total career tournaments with about half of them resulting in top-25 finishes.
As for the Men’s division competing May 26-31, six alums will be playing for college golf glory. Riley Lewis of Prescott made it as an individual representing Loyola Marymount University. Tucker Clark of Paradise Valley (Colorado), Ben Lorenz of Peoria (Oklahoma), Aiden Krafft (Oregon), Jacob Tarkany of Scottsdale (Ohio State) and the local Sun Devil Preston Summerhays. Riley Lewis has recorded his first NCAA appearance of his three-year career. Led the Lions last season with a 72.00 average in 36 rounds over 12 events. Tucker Clark is a sophomore for UC Boulder with multiple years of eligibility left since transferring from the University of Notre Dame. In his first year as a Buffalo, Clark enjoys a solid season after playing in all six fall tournaments and finishing with a 71.11 stroke average. Ben Lorenz is having a breakout season for the Boomer Sooner squad which includes his first collegiate individual title. The former No. 1 ranked player in the state is making his second appearance at Grayhawk for the national title. Aidan Krafft was a JGAA member for 3 years, although he is from Albergqueque, and won the Phoenix City Junior Championship back in 2020. The freshman is making his national championship debut for the Ducks and is no stranger to playing under pressure. Krafft is a former two-time New Mexico state high school champion. Ohio State Buckeye Jacob Tarkany is making his NCAA Championship debut as the Cactus Shadows High School product contends for the individual and team title. Preston Summerhays looks to take the Sun Devils back to the final round of matchplay after they finished just short of hoisting up the trophy. The Scottsdale native was selected for the Team USA 2023 Palmer Cup team and stacked up six top-10s this season. The ASU captain is making his second consecutive appearance at Grayhawk.
