The 2022 Patriot All-American teed off in the West Valley December 27-31 at Wigwam Golf Club in Goodyear, with a handful of JGAA alums toping the leaderboard.

Peoria native and junior at Oklahoma, Ben Lorenz came in second place at the Patriot, firing 66-69-67 to end up at -11, one stroke off the pace set by champion Caden Fioroni of UNLV. Incredibly, Fioroni birdied five of his last seven holes on the Gold Course to tie the Patriot All-America Men’s division low round, 63, to take the championship at -12. In third place, Queen Creek’s Gabe Salvanera settled at -10. He’s currently a senior ASU Sun Devil.

On the women’s side, Scottsdale’s Grace Summerhays, also a Sun Devil, landed in a three-way playoff for the championship with Emma McMyler of Xavier and Antonia Malate of San Jose State. The 36-hole leader, Summerhays exited the playoff on the first extra hole after failing to match birdies by McMyler and Malate, with the Malate eventually prevailing.

Featuring golf’s stars of tomorrow, the Patriot All-America is regarded as a top national amateur event, attracting PING All-America golfers from all three NCAA Divisions, NAIA and NJCAA rankings as well as from universities outside the United States. The Arizona Golf Association (AGA), JDM Partners and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) partnering with the Folds of Honor Foundation to host the tournament.
