Adam Miller and Ali Mulhall Win Phoenix Metro Jr Championship presented by Van’s Golf Shops

Fresh from a runner-up finish the week before, Adam Miller of Phoenix won the Boys Championship division at the Phoenix Metro Junior Championship by a six-stroke margin over second-place finisher, Vincent Cervantes, of Chandler. Miller’s 12-under-par performance at Stone Creek Golf Club included an opening round 7-under-par 64 – the lowest of the tournament – followed by a 5-under-par 66. Cervantes (71-65), despite entering the final round with a seven-stroke deficit, gave chase, firing 6-under 65, which put him at -6, three strokes ahead of third place held by Brasen Briones (68-71) of Tucson. Set for another solid year, Miller notched two wins in the 2021 JGAA season, including a PING Junior Masters Series tournament.

In the Girls Championship division contested at Desert Springs Golf Course, Ali Mulhall (76-68) of Henderson, Nevada and Irene Kim (69-75) of Woodstock, Maryland tied for first place at even par. Kim broke 70 in the first round to take the lead, before Mulhall responded with a 68 in the final round to pull even with Kim. Mulhall then prevailed in a playoff. Reagan Capizzi (76-71) of Scottsdale and Ella Walsh (75-72) of Tucson finished tied for third place at +3. 

 In the Boys 15-18 division, Evan Cross (73-75) of Prescott Valley and Jackson McLaughlin (74-74) of Scottsdale shot +6 to at Stone Creek Golf Club to finish tied for first place. Cross later prevailed in a playoff. In the Girls 15-18 division Julia Herzberg of Gilbert fired 2-under-par, 71-71, to win by seven strokes at Desert Springs Golf Course.  

Min Gi Kim (68-66) of Chandler posted -10, with two rounds in the 60s (68-66) to win the Boys 13-14 division by an eight-stroke margin at Sun City – North Course. Cynthia Lang (72-74) of Chandler came in first place in the Girls 13-14 division at +2 on the North Course.

Troy Stahl of Phoenix shot 5-over-par 77 at Sun City North to win the Boys 11-12 championship, while Aubrey Pizzillo of Goodyear did the same in the Girls 11-12 division, with a score of 12-over-par 84. In the Boys 10 and Under division Gabriel Mathur (43-41) of Phoenix shot +12 for the win, and Sophia Miller (46-42) shot +16 for the victory in the Girls 10 and Under division.
