Silverbell and El Rio Golf Courses host Arizona’s top junior golf talent at 26th annual tournament.
Anawin Pikulthong of Gilbert took top honors in the Boys Championship division at the Tucson Conquistadores Spring Classic, held April 27-28 at Silverbell and El Rio Golf Courses. Coincidentally, Pikulthong, 14, won last year in the 13-14 division. This year he fired two rounds in the 60s (67-69) to finish at 4-under-par 136, one stroke clear of Noah Nuez of Laveen (67-70) and three ahead of Alan Quezada (68-71—138) of Phoenix. Jacob Goode (73-67—140) of Tucson slid into fourth place at even par for the tournament.

In the Girls Championship division, Ashley Menne of Surprise shot 1-under-par 139 to win the tournament (70-69), while second-place finisher Alexandra Quihuis of Tucson finished two strokes off the pace at 1-over par (72-69). Mattison Frick (73-69) of Peoria and Alyzzah Vakasiuola (69-73) of San Tan Valley finished tied for third place at 2-over-par 142.
In addition to the Championship divisions, Carter Wilkes of Mesa (72-72) won the Boys 15-18 division at 4-over-par 144. Carlos Astiazaran of Tucson won the Boys 13-14 Division at one-under par (72-67—139). Brennan Korn of Phoenix won the Boys 11-12 Division at 3-over par (36-37—73). And Everett Corwon of Sahuarita won the Boys 10 and Under division at 6-over par (39-37—76).
In the Girls 15-18 divisions, Ailis Tribolet (73-78) of Chandler and Taylor Naumann (75-76) of Goodyear tied for first place at 11-over-par 151; Tribolet went on to win in the playoff. In the Girls 13-14 division Annie Dawson of Phoenix (74-79) and Brooke McGlasson (75-78) of Peoria finished tied for first place at 13-over-par 153; Dawson prevailed in the playoff. Oro Valley’s Lucy Newell won the Girls 11-12 division at 14-over par (43-41—84). And Ashley Shaw of Litchfield Park won in the Girls 10 and Under Division 14-over par (43-41—84).
The Tucson National Spring Classic, one of the annual highlights on the JGAA’s schedule, teed off for the 26th time April 27-28 featuring some of Arizona’s best junior golfers (boys and girls) ages 8-18 competing in the tournament.
