The road to Louisiana began this weekend for our first Notah Begay III local qualifier of the year. Congrats to all the players who punched their ticket to the Arizona Regional Final. The Phoenix Metro Junior Championship, proudly supported by Van’s Golf Shops, took center stage this past weekend, welcoming tons of sunshine and a formidable lineup of Arizona’s finest young golfers. From local talent to out-of-state players aged 8-18, the competition unfolded at The Clubs at Arrowhead, Palmbrook Golf Club and Sun City Country Club across five distinct age divisions. The final round was highlighted by two aces at The Clubs at Arrowhead (Tate Tigges and Hudson Roberts).

In the Boys Championship Division, contested at The Clubs at Arrowhead, six players stayed in the mix after firing open-round scores in the low 70s. Those players include Parker Servoss of Tucson, Liam Allan of Scottsdale, Evan Tyree of Scottsdale, Mateo Berastegui of Phoenix, Ryan Rasmussen of Goodyear and Alec Hilgers of Surprise. The race to the top was tight during the last day of play. One player broke through the crowded leaderboard and captured four birdies on the final day to repeat his first-round success: Parker Servoss. With five players breathing down his neck playing catchup, Servoss stayed poised as he made the turn to seal it. He managed to be the only player in the division to finish in red figures at 1-under par for the event. The win marks his first of the 2025 season. Liam Allan, Evan Tyree and Mateo Berastegui all tied for second place at even par.

In the Girls Championship Division played at Sun City Country Club, Alyssa Rigby of Washington started the tournament with a bang. She carded a 2-under 70 to jump out to an early two-shot lead. Consistency is key and Rigby made sure to pick up where she left off after day one. Her final-round 74 (+2) deemed enough to outlast the competitors in the hunt. The Washingtonian concluded the tournament at even par to win by two strokes. Irene Kim of Maryland, Asia Young of Oregon and Nicole Kang of Washington all tied for second at even par.

Parker Phillips out of Sun City won the Boys 15-18 Division over at The Clubs at Arrowhead. Phillips carded a 10-over-par performance (77-77-154) to secure a one-stroke victory. Troy Stahl of Phoenix goes low at 6-under par to win the Boys 13-14 Division at Palmbrook Golf Club. Luke Edwards out of Colorado took top honors in the Boys 11-12 Division after ending up in red figures at 1-under par (37-34–71). And Sahir Nainwal of Gilbert won the Boys 10 and Under Division after finishing the tournament 7-over par (41-38–79).

In the Girls 15-18 Division, Valentina WahnnatahHurtado out of Tucson led the field by four strokes out at Sun City Country Club with a 9-over-par scorecard for the event (78-75–153). Abby Kelly, based in Mesa, won with a two-stroke advantage in the Girls 13-14 Division after a 2-under-par performance (71-71 –150) at Palmbrook Golf Club. Mesa local Yena Kim shot five-over par to clinch the Girls 11-12 division by three strokes (39-38-77). Emmaline Dang of Mesa got the victory at the same course with an 11-over-par 83 to win by three strokes.
