Arizona Finishes 8th at 56th Hogan Cup

Team Arizona – featuring Owen Bolles, Henry Dall, Nicholas Lyman and Trey Moore– came in eighth place at the 2024 Hogan Cup held at Riverside Golf & Country Club in Portland, Oregon, August 10-11. Southern California captured first place at a noteworthy 14-under par as a team.

In the four-person-team format, the three lowest individual scores each day determine the total team score. In the first round, team Arizona made the turn at -2, before finishing at +7. The final round consisted of a 5-over par performance as a team, with rounds of 70-73-75 to end up at 10-over par for the event. San Diego finished runner up at 3-under par as a team, 11 shots back of the leaders.

Individually, Owen Bolles of Chandler led the way for Team Arizona at T-12. The 2023 JGAA Player of the Year posted a 2-over-par 144 (74-70). He put up a 1-under front nine with two birdies during the first round of action and concluded at three-over 74. The final round fared incredibly well for the Chandler native, carding three birdies en route to a 1-under 70 to wrap up the event. Nicholas Lyman of Surprise and Henry Dall of Scottsdale were right behind him at T-18. Lyman and Dall ended up at 4-over par for the individual portion of the Hogan Cup. Trey Moore of Scottsdale ended up T-36 at 11-over par (76-77).

The Eddie Hogan Cup, established in 1969, honors Eddie Hogan, the esteemed Riverside golf professional who made lasting impacts on the sport before his untimely death in 1968. Hogan, a two-time amateur champion and a pioneer in the golf pro shop industry, also played a key role in advancing junior golf in Oregon. This prestigious event has seen participation from golf legends like Tiger Woods, Fred Couples, and Rickie Fowler, among others, reflecting its esteemed place in the sport’s history.
