Junior golfer Anya Mathur, 16, of Scottsdale secured her first AJGA victory of the season at Dobson Ranch Golf Course in Mesa. Mathur carded three rounds in red figures, including a tournament low of six-under 66 in round one. She had six birdies in her opening round and made good use of her home-field advantage.
In the second round, she remained in the hunt by posting a one-under 71 and stayed consistent throughout with her ball striking.
For the final round, Mathur maintained her composure down the stretch. The Scottsdale native fired off a three-under front nine and winded up finishing three-under 69 and claimed the victory at 10-under for the event. The win is her second of the 2023 season as she won this year’s Thunderbird Invitational-PING Junior Masters tournament.
