Tucson’s Jonathan Walters jumped out to a one-stroke lead over Scottsdale’s Jack Whisler with a 6-under 66 that featured a 5-under 31 on the front nine. Ryan Sanchez sits in third place at 4-under par; Mason Quagliata and Brock Goyen are tied for fourth place at 3-under par.
Ashley Menne of Surprise fired at 4-under 68 to also lead by one stroke over Kelly Su of Scottsdale. Alexandra Quihuis of Tucson is in third place at even par; Madeleine Laux of Goodyear is in fourth place at 2-over par.
The State Junior Golf Championship is contested this year at Forest Highland’s Meadow course Tuesday, June 20 – Wednesday, June 21 with final-round tee times beginning this morning at 8 am.
